Spotlight on Nawi Island Marina, Fiji Published in August 14, 2026 Go! Nawi Island Marina Nawi Island Marina is a relatively new, high-end marina in Savusavu Harbour on Vanua Levu, Fiji. It’s particularly interesting if you’re cruising the South Pacific because it combines serious yacht infrastructure with a resort-style marina complex. It sits among Nawi, Korovesa and Nawi Lailai islands, giving it a naturally sheltered position close to Savusavu town. It has 132 berths, with capacity for superyachts up to 85 metres. The marina was built to Australian standards and is designed/certified for Category 5 cyclone conditions, making year-round berthing one of its selling points. Facilities include 240V single-phase and 415V three-phase electricity, UV-filtered water, sewage pump-out, high-speed internet, fuel, full pontoons and 24-hour security. There’s also a substantial Valaga boatyard with a 75-tonne travel lift, hard-standing capacity for around 150 yachts, engineering and paint workshops, wash bay and other maintenance facilities. More Than a Marina Nawi is being developed as a destination in its own right. The current marina complex advertises a beach club, swimming pool and cabanas, spa, bakery, coffee shop, restaurants/bars, provisioning, currency exchange and watersports/activities. That’s quite a different proposition from some traditional cruising marinas: you can leave the yacht at a genuinely capable facility while still having somewhere pleasant to spend a few days. Nawi recently opened three fully furnished accommodation bures/villas on Korovesa Island, right in the marina complex. They’re intended both for holiday visitors and for yacht owners/crew who need somewhere to stay while their boat is being serviced. Location The location is one of its strongest points. Savusavu is on the south coast of Vanua Levu and is one of Fiji’s official ports of entry. Nawi is immediately offshore from the town, while Savusavu Airport is roughly 10 minutes away. For visiting yachts, Nawi can assist with the arrival process involving Health, Customs and Biosecurity, and its current berthing information describes it as a clearance port for superyachts. Why Sailors Use It Nawi makes a particularly good base for exploring northern Fiji rather than staying around the much busier Nadi/Denarau side. From Savusavu you’re well positioned for cruising around Vanua Levu and onward toward places such as Taveuni and the Lau Group. The usual prime cruising period around Savusavu is roughly late April through October, with the Fiji cyclone season generally running November through April.
