Monash University Research at Royal Brighton Yacht Club

Whilst wandering the marina here at RBYC, I have often seen the industrious students of Monash University staring into their microscopes on the dock. They are in the middle of a research project studying the wildlife in the marina here at RBYC. The bay is undoubtedly cleaner than it once was and I have noticed an increased amount of bird and sea life in the short time I have lived here. Dolphins are a very common sight and a juvenile humpback whale was seen two weeks ago off Geelong.

Although the research is specific to our bay I’m sure most marinas in Australia can relate to their research. Special thanks to Prof. Dustin Marshall from the School of Biological Sciences. A summary of their research can be found here for anyone interested.
