Young 88 - Vasco

Young 88 - Vasco

The Young 88 was recognised early on as fast to race but with enough space for comfortable cruising. Its open transom, convenient for swimmers and divers, completed the attraction. By the time Roger Land had made a mould from the first wooden hull in the early 1980's, interest had escalated and he had orders for 12 boats.

In total 158 boats were made, and 143 were GRP. With 77 of these boats still in New Zealand, today it is New Zealand's leading keelboat class. The other boats were exported to Australia and throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Vasco is hull # 134. Launched in 1989, she's been well maintained and kept in a berth at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. She would be a perfect first boat for someone looking to get in to the club racing circuit this summer. She has an excellent sail wardrobe and will prove to be very competitive to race and a pleasure to enjoy the day on the water when not racing.
